What is Hogfish, and how does it taste?

I love the cuisine of the Florida Keys because it features many distinctive food staples exclusive to the area, such as key lime pie, conch fritters, and one of our favorite types of fish, Hogfish.

For two years, we lived in our RV in the middle Keys and now we spend our winters there every year. We absolutely love eating and fishing for Hogfish. Before we discovered the Keys, we had never even heard of this delicious fish.

Our favorite way to enjoy Hogfish in the Florida Keys is at Lazy Days Islamorada or South, where it's encrusted with panko breadcrumbs, sautéed, topped with fresh diced tomatoes, scallions, shredded Parmesan cheese, and our delicious homemade key lime butter sauce.

Another well-known and popular spot to try HogFish is the Hogfish Bar and Grill, located near Key West and known for its delicious, perfectly cooked hogfish dishes. They are particularly famous for their fish sandwich, featuring a fillet of Hogfish that is lightly breaded and fried, served on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, and a special sauce. The sandwich is said to be so good that it can convert even those who don't typically enjoy seafood.
