Pro Tip:

The reviews on the recreation.gov app are usually for each campsite. However, we prefer to log into RVLIFE’s website to read campground reviews and see the overall rating for the park.

Morganton Point Campground has a rating of 8.8/10, and we typically only stay at places rated under 6.5 if it's a last resort. We have found RVLIFE to be accurate regarding its ratings after our stays.

You can book up to 6 months in advance typically for most parks and the same goes for Morganton Point.

Mercier Orchards

Mercier Orchard in Blue Ridge, Georgia, is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the beauty of a working orchard. With over 300 acres of apple trees, the orchard offers breathtaking views and a chance to pick your apples during harvest. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a variety of homemade treats at the market, including freshly baked pies, apple cider, and other delicious goodies.

We made multiple trips to the orchard while visiting the area and highly recommend their hand pies. We also enjoyed the cider and wine tasting and had breakfast in the bakery. the blue ridge scenic railway

The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway is a must-try experience. The train ride takes you on a 26-mile round trip through the beautiful Chattahoochee National Forest and the Toccoa River. You'll pass through historic towns and enjoy stunning views of the North Georgia mountains. It's a great way to immerse yourself in the area's natural beauty and learn about its history.

The railway offers a two-hour train tour and a 4-hour tour where they drop you in the neighboring towns of McCaysville, GA, and Copperhill, TN. We had around 2 hours to explore these walkable neighboring towns as we shopped, ate, and even grabbed a seltzer at a local brewery.

Whether you're in the mood for Southern comfort food, barbecue, or fine dining, you'll find something to satisfy your cravings. Some popular dining spots in Blue Ridge include The Black Sheep Restaurant, Harvest on Main, and The General Ledger. These establishments offer a range of culinary experiences, from farm-to-table cuisine to traditional Southern dishes, ensuring that there's something for everyone to enjoy.

We had a wonderful meal at the General Ledger in downtown Blue Ridge. Our server was fantastic, and the food was farm-to-table fresh. We loved the ribeye, crafted cocktails, and some of the best cornbread we've ever had in the South!

Whether you're looking for local artisan crafts or distinctive gifts, Blue Ridge provides an enjoyable shopping experience. We loved walking around the quaint small town and wandering into different specialty shops. Make sure to visit The Pasta Market; that was our favorite, and they also have a small cafe inside.

Fishing Access at Morganton Point Campground

We love camping at sites located by bodies of water, and the stunning water views at Morgan Point are truly remarkable. Garret caught a decent-sized bass along the lake shore, and the campground offers excellent fishing opportunities on Blue Ridge Lake.

The lake is home to various fish species, including largemouth bass, catfish, bluegill, walleye, crappie, and my favorite, rainbow trout. It's a popular spot for anglers looking to reel in various fish in a beautiful natural setting.

Our stay at Morganton Point Campground and exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains was truly unforgettable. From the tranquil shores of Lake Blue Ridge to the charming nearby attractions, we immersed ourselves in natural beauty and rich experiences. We can't wait to return, whether it's in our RV or even tent camping.
