Harvest Hosts and Boondockers Welcome are two popular platforms that offer RVers a chance to stay overnight for free or a small fee at unique locations across the US and Canada. We have stayed at over 15 locations around the US and can now say this is our preferred way to boondock in our RV.

Why we love them:

We love Harvest Hosts for their unique overnight stays at small businesses. It's a great way for us to support local establishments while exploring different places. We get so much more than just a parking spot for the night. We enjoy discovering new food, specialty items, and wines, and have made many lasting friendships with fellow RVers on the property. Although there is a minimal fee to join, it is customary to make a purchase at the establishment to show our support for the program. We’ve stayed at wineries, breweries, farms, and even a church.. We usually seek out the wineries and places with food on-site,

what is the difference between the two?

Harvest Hosts is a membership-based program that allows members to stay at wineries, breweries, farms, and other attractions that offer RV parking.

Boondockers Welcome is a similar network that provides RVers with access to private property for overnight stays. Boondockers Welcome members can stay at various locations such as private homes, farms, and ranches.

Both networks offer a great opportunity for RVers to explore new areas and meet new people while on the road.

We highly recommend giving these options a try for a stress-free and enjoyable boondocking experience.

Harvest host and boondockers welcome

The difference between Harvest Hosts and Boondockers welcome is HH locations are small businesses, and Boodockers Welcome is typically a residential home. Most spots are only boondocking, but some offer full hook-up for a small fee.

Boondockers Welcome is typically a private residence in someone's driveway or property. The hosts are RVers themselves and happy to have you stay. Boondockers Welcome seems to have more hook-ups, and you can stay longer than one night. Unlike Harvest Hosts, where you're staying at a place of business for one night only.
