How To Save Half-Off at Campgrounds

what is Passport America?

Passport America is an incredible program that offers a whopping 50% discount on fees at participating RV campgrounds nationwide.

passport America perks

The platform has over 1,200 participating campgrounds in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Online Directory: Access to an online directory and a printed guide that lists all participating campgrounds, including details on amenities, rates, and restrictions.

Mobile App: A mobile app for easy access to campground information and discounts..

Additional Discounts: Members may also receive discounts on other RV-related services and products.

We finally decided to join Passport America, and it's been worth it. We were looking for a campground between Palm Springs and Superior, Arizona. When we called a local KOA, they quoted us over $70 for one night, more than we wanted to pay. Even with our KOA membership savings, it was still too expensive.

Membership Costs:

  • Annual Fee: Typically around $44 per year, though multi-year discounts are available.

  • Lifetime Membership: An option for a one-time fee, offering lifetime access to the program's benefits.

How It Works:

  1. Join the Program: Sign up for membership online or via phone.

  2. Use the Directory: Find participating campgrounds using the directory or mobile app.

  3. Present Membership Card: Show your Passport America membership card at check-in to receive the discount.

Restrictions:

  • Blackout Dates: Some campgrounds may have blackout dates during peak seasons or holidays.

  • Length of Stay: Discounts may be limited to a certain number of nights.

  • Advance Reservations: Some campgrounds require advance reservations to use the discount.

Additional Features:

  • Trip Routing: Tools to help plan RV trips and find participating campgrounds along your route.

  • RV Maintenance Discounts: Discounts on RV maintenance and repair services at select locations.

Overall, Passport America can provide substantial savings for frequent RV travelers, especially those who enjoy staying at various campgrounds during their trips.

Here’s The Breakdown cost

Passport America

Queen Valley RV Resort Paid $35 for the night with Passport America! Normally

We booked our first three nights at an upscale resort for half the price at two different upscale resorts, and this is the breakdown of our savings.

Cost of Membership $37 ( we used a coupon code we found online that's usually $44 for the year to join)

The price of one night at the upscale resort was $35 (normally $70 a night)

Then, we booked Two additional nights for the following week at another participating resort along our route: $50 for two nights (normally $50 per night)

Half-off savings for All three nights was $170

We ended up Paying $85 for all three nights plus the membership $37, for a total of $122

Without the membership, it would have cost us $170 for three nights

We can stay half off all year, making this a great deal. Even if we never book again, we have saved far more than the initial cost of the membership since it would have been $170 for three nights, and we only paid $85.

One of the things we appreciate most is the comprehensive map and listing info for all locations. Navigating and booking directly from the links provided by Passport America is a breeze, giving us peace of mind in our planning.

Overall, Passport America can provide substantial savings for frequent RV travelers, especially those who enjoy camping at various campgrounds.
