New Thousand Trails Cabin Pass

Thousand Trails has rolled out a brand new membership for its cabins, hotels, and tiny homes. As full-time RVers, this wasn't something I thought we would be interested in at first.

With the high cost of gas prices and the option to stay in cabins at two of our favorite spots in Florida, we decided to give it a try.

Signing up was easy, I called and spoke with a team member, and she was able to give me all the information I needed. I told her I was primarily interested in staying down in the Florida Keys, so if there weren't any availability for July-August, it wouldn't work for us. She was able to see the availability, sign us up, and book two 14-night stays for us.

There are some stipulations and restrictions, and this is a new program, so they're still working out the kinks. Because this program is so new, it would be a great time to join because it states that it's a limited-time offering on the Thousand Trails website.

Here are the rules:

Stay a minimum of 2 days, a max of 14, and you must be out of the system 14 days between each cabin stay and seven days if you want to stay in your RV.

A couple of weeks after I joined, they changed the two resorts in the Keys ( the only reason we even joined) from 14 days out of the system after a stay to 28 days. When I called to see about the change, I was told by a rep for TT that it's up to the resort itself, and there was nothing they could do about it. That was a bummer.

Another letdown was both stays in the Keys were not tiny homes or cabins but hotel rooms. That was very disappointing considering it's called "cabin pass," and hotels are not listed as a unique way to stay on their website. However, it is costly to stay in the Florida Keys and the first stay more than paid for the pass for a year. For example, the hotel room we were in was around $350 a night, and we stayed seven days. That would cost $2,450 without the pass. The tiny homes and cabins are much more a night.

It's $1500 plus tax for the membership, and it's good for a year from the time of purchase.

The Perks:

This pass can save you a lot of money compared to the price of hotels and Airbnb. They have over 70 campgrounds and resorts around the United States to choose from.

We think this is a great new offering from Thousand Trails, and I will continue to update you on our stays. We will save money in gas driving to many of these resorts, and most of the accommodations have full kitchens and extra room for family, friends, and pets.
