It's important to know that RV parks and state parks in the Florida Keys tend to fill up fast, especially during the peak season which runs from december to april. Therefore, it's best to book your spot well in advance. If you're planning on staying for a month or longer, you'll be able to secure a better deal. Keep in mind that if you're interested in reserving a spot in a state park, you'll need to book early.
It's worth noting that as of 2024, state park booking has changed, and Florida residents now have an advantage as they can book a month ahead of out-of-state residents. We've covered this topic in detail in our recent blog post, which you can read HERE.
As Thousand Trails members, we have the benefit of accessing two fantastic parks located within a 35-minute drive of each other. Fiesta Key and Sunshine Key (both Encore resorts) usually have more last-minute availability, and if you are already a member, you can enjoy a stay for just $20 a night.

RV spots in the keys are generally less expensive during the summer and fall seasons. RV spots are generally less expensive during the summer and fall and you will see deeper discounts for all loding. The best time to book a trip to the florida Keys if you’re on a budget would be May to November, with the exception of certain holidays and popular events such as mini lobster season.
These RV sites usually list their rates online, and you can save significantly during the slower months. Winter travelers, otherwise known as "snowbirds," usually go back to their homes up north or elsewhere, and it's a lot less crowded at this time, which we like.
