What to do in Las Cruces New Mexico

We came to Las Cruces on our way to Texas and I’m so glad we did. 

Las Cruces is a town located in the southern part of the state of New Mexico. It is the second largest city in the state and is known for its beautiful landscapes, rich history, and diverse culture. Las Cruces offers a variety of attractions, from museums and art galleries to parks and outdoor recreation areas.

we decided to stop here on our way to white sands National Park-which is less than an hour away.

1. Tour the historic town of MeSlilla 

Mesilla is a historic town located in the southern part of the state of New Mexico, just a few miles from Las Cruces. It is known for its rich history, cultural significance, and beautiful architecture, which reflects the town's heritage as a former Spanish colonial and Mexican village. Mesilla is home to many historic landmarks, such as the Basilica of San Albino and the Gadsden Museum, and is a popular destination for visitors who are interested in history, art, and culture.

The town also offers a variety of shops, galleries, and restaurants, making it a great place to spend a day exploring and enjoying the local culture.We walked around the various shops and historic spots located in the town square. We had a glass of local wine at vintage Vineyards before dinner in town at Andele’s Dog House

2. Take a drive through the pecan trees AND VISIT STAHMANNS PECANS

3. HIKE THE Soledad Canyon Loop-

Soledad Canyon Loop is a beautiful hiking trail that is located near Las Cruces, New Mexico. This loop trail is approximately 4.5 miles long and is considered to be a moderate hike. The trail offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, and also features a small waterfall and a seasonal stream. Soledad Canyon Loop is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers, and it is also a great place for birdwatching and wildlife spotting. The trail is well-maintained and marked, and there are benches and picnic tables along the way for visitors to rest and enjoy the scenery.

4. VISIT Dripping Springs Nature Area 

Dripping Springs Trail is definitely worth checking out. Located in the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument, the trail can be accessed via Dripping Springs Road, which is about a ten-mile drive from New Mexico State University. The address for your GPS is 15000 Dripping Springs Rd, Las Cruces, NM 88005, a PRETTY EASY HIKE AT 6,000 FT ELEVATION TO SEE EUGENE VAN PATTEN’S LATE 1800'S HOTEL.
